Path of Love Reopens in 2024

After a long closure due to a landslide in 2012, which resulted in injuries to four tourists, the Path of Love (Via dell'Amore) in Cinque Terre has finally reopened. This iconic trail, known for its stunning views of the Ligurian Sea and its romantic atmosphere, was damaged and had to undergo extensive repairs and safety enhancements.

The current status of the trail (September 2024): open.

After 12 years of closure, the Path of Love (Via dell'Amore) reopened on July 26, 2024, for residents and is now open to tourists starting August 9, 2024. The reopening marks a significant moment for the Cinque Terre region, promoting sustainable tourism and preserving its natural beauty.

This famous pathway connects the picturesque villages of Riomaggiore and Manarola, offering an easy and scenic walk along the cliffs. The trail is part of a broader initiative to manage foot traffic and maintain the path's beauty. Visitors will need to book a timed 15-minute group tour online, with each slot limited to 100 visitors. This ensures a well-managed and enjoyable experience for all.

The restoration included significant safety improvements such as rockfall barriers, an extended artificial tunnel, and a new breakwater to prevent erosion.

Experience the magic of the Via dell'Amore and create unforgettable memories along this historic and romantic trail in Cinque Terre.
